there's a short summary for all the episodes of previous seasons in wikipedia. u can read it if u forgot what happened. or read the manga which is more entertaining then going through walls of texts

I remember the events with Ranpo and Poe. LoL. On the contrary this episodes just adds up he can erase all the evidence but there is no such thing as the perfect crime. LoL.

That's highly unusual, but sometimes, it's really the little things that make a case. For instance, one missing person case had relatives note that his private room looked unusually tidy. The police couldn't find a leed and thus went back to that statement and investigated the room. They could figure out that it had been cleaned after the disappearance of the person and that sparked their interest. They literally took the place apart and found some blood on the underside of the door. Yes, they couldn't find any blood on the floor itself, or anywhere else. That alone was already a remarkable feat and it also showed that the criminals spent hours cleaning the crimescene, which in turn was a clue in itself...

Detective Conan has taught me that the cleanest crime scene is often one of the most suspicious, that and the best way to eliminate evidence is set the whole building on fire.

It's probably because he guessed the culpits movements. He went where the culpit might be (or might want to leave from) and saw a lone guy with too small shoes. (Or maybe he saw him earlier)

Also leaving no clues does not really count as clue, as knowing the target is a gifted doesn't help finding the culpit. At best it will strongly hint that it's the same culpit for other cases with erased clues, so it's likely the guy he's after.
Plus it didn't erase all the clues. For instance aganist Rambo erasing things he already saw doesn't help as he'll remember. The corpse is still there, he apparently still has too small shoes and is in the area of the crime and can still be found.
Really directly going after Rampo was a terrible idea. He read many clues before they where erased and is capable of deducing things on the fly. Relying on his ability to stop him from catching on was a mistake.
His ability only truly works if he leaves no witnesses of him ever having been there, as people would still remember him. (And Rampo apparently remembers everything ever)

As can often happen with such a powerful ability, he came to rely entirely upon it and mistook wielding a strong and versatile power as making him untouchable. He was so confident in his ability to erase evidence after the fact that he took no precautions against someone who has Rampo's memory and deduction skills.

I just hope he doesn't die cause the OP has me worried. I'm especially worried because of his track record prior to getting scolded by Fukuzawa about risking his life, buuuut, maybe all that time he was waiting could have been for reinforcements so he doesn't break his promise.
